Life as a Tourism student

Hi everyone!

Today we will talk about my life as a tourism student at Cégep de Matane. I hope that this article will give you a better idea of what a tourism student is going through, you may even find a vocation in this wonderful field!

To tell you about my life as a tourism student, I will choose one of my busiest days of the week: Monday. Usually I start at 8:00 a.m. with my Business Interactions course where we talk about business topics in English. Before my next class I have the right to a one-hour break that allows me to work and progress in my work. I then continue with my course in financial management tools at 10:50 a.m. where we do analysis of accounting data. Finally comes the long-awaited moment, the lunch break which takes place from 11:35 a.m. to 12:35 a.m. I then resume with the same class as before the break, until 2:20 p.m. To follow up with my course on coordinating eco-responsible events until 4:15 p.m. where we discover how to organize events and all the work that goes into them. I end my day of classes with the communication and multimedia course where we learn to master different software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign…).

However, my day does not end there because I have my soccer training which takes place from 8:30 pm to 11 pm at the Cégep gym. It is always a pleasure to meet up with friends to practice your favourite sport!

We often meet other teams

As you may have seen, the life of a tourism student is not a relaxing one, but it is exciting. The courses are very diversified and interesting, that’s what I like about this course. There is never a dull moment and that’s why I highly recommend it.

The Montmorency Falls

Hi everyone!

Today I want to show you a little marvel of Quebec that you absolutely must visit: the Montmorency Falls in Quebec City.

This is me at the Montmorency Falls !

This waterfall owes its name to the Montmorency River from which the water flowing from its waterfall comes. It then flows into the St. Lawrence River. This fall is no match for Niagara Falls, since it is thirty metres longer than Niagara Falls. It is also the highest drop in the province of Quebec. Fun fact: At the foot of the falls, the depth of the basin is 17 metres.

To get there, you can use the city’s bus network. For $3.5, you can go to Parc de la Chute-Montmorency. To observe them, stairs with many observation points are available on the opposite hill. Once all the steps are down, you will find yourself at the foot of the waterfall and you will be able to contemplate this wonder of nature. If for any reason, climbing the stairs does not motivate you, you can use the cable car that will take you from the base to the top of the falls. You can also cross a bridge just above the waterfall and feel the power of the water flowing under your feet.

You can also visit the waterfall in winter and admire its magnificent sugar loaf. It is the result of water vapours solidifying and forming a magnificent glacier at the foot of the waterfall.

For me, this fall is a must for the province, a place to visit without hesitation. I am sure you will be won over by its beauty and grandeur. We hope to have motivated you to discover this wonderful site!

A concern about the future of Tourism

Hi everyone!

Today we are going to talk about a more serious subject: the future of tourism. Tourism is a sector that is developing from year to year with, in particular, middle classes in some emerging countries, which can now afford a holiday. In recent years, the sector has therefore expanded, and I believe it will continue to do so, since many countries are still at risk of seeing their population’s purchasing power increase, as well as the chances of their share allocated to leisure and holidays increasing. I therefore believe that tourism still has a bright future ahead of it and that this sector is not in danger of disappearing.
